Over One MILLION Dollars For Research

Pat and Amy Tomasulo raised $130,422 at Laugh Your Face Off, a comedy Fund Raiser benefiting The Facial Pain Research Foundation at The Laugh Factory on January 15, 2015.

The event itself raised $65,211 between sponsorship money, raffle ticket revenue and additional donations. This figure was matched by The William H. and Leila A. Cilker Genetics Research Program Gift for a grand total of $130,422. Additionally, on January 23rd, Pat and Amy helped raise another $14,500 at “Duckhorn, Ditka’s and Dancing,” a dinner and wine tasting event at Ditka’s Restaurant in Arlington Heights, IL.  John Vincent, who sang at “Laugh Your Face Off,” works personally with ‘Da Coach’, and helped arrange to have their prize auction benefit The Foundation.  Thanks to John, Amy, Pat and everyone at Ditka’s, even more money was raised.

As a result of Pat and Amy’s leadership, the goal of raising $500,000 matching donations for the William and Leila Cilker $500,000 gift has been achieved in less than one year. The Trustees of The Facial Pain Research Foundation are very thankful for the generosity of the Cilker Family and the many hundreds of people who have helped to raise the million-plus dollars to find a cure.   In addition, over $600,000 future pledges have been made to The Foundation as a result of the Cilker matching gift.  The impact of their leadership will result in over $1,750,000 for research and untold benefits in influencing others to raise funds for trigeminal neuralgia and related neuropathic pain cures.

Guests Laughed Their Face Off at the Laugh Factory and Enjoyed Bites from Delightful Pastries + Cafe.  They had no idea that night would take the matching grant fundraising over the Million Dollar mark.  Pat Tomasulo, the event's host and one of the scheduled comedic performers, has personal experience with the disease as his wife has suffered from its devastating effects for years.

Says Pat, "My goal is to bring attention to this rare neurological disorder. Research funds can be limited for diseases that affect a minority of the population, so I am using my celebrity and my sense of humor to help my wife and the roughly 400,000 people in the U.S. whose lives have been impacted by the disease.”

A wonderful night for those seeking to find the cure

A special thank you goes out from The Foundation to The Laugh Factory for helping us surpass our fund-raising goals in Chicago!
