Project Description

Yona Levites, Ph.D.

Yona Levites, Ph.D. is a University of Florida Assistant Professor who has over 12 years of experience in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research, and is designing gene therapy approaches for curing TN.  A key contributor to the “Towards Gene Therapy for Trigeminal Neuralgia” project, she consults on the design of various gene candidates, expression and characterization, as well as their delivery into the target tissue. Her laboratory played a key role in the development, optimization, and utilization of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene delivery paradigms as technology accelerators. These paradigms enhance our capacity to rapidly and cost-effectively explore hypotheses and evaluate biological based therapies in the brain. She has an extensive list of publications, honors and accomplishments for her work in gene related research.
