FPRF Board Chair, Dan DiCaro, shares this with the facial pain community: “The Facial Pain Research Foundation has long been recognized for our unique model of directly funding high-impact research and fostering close collaboration between scientists, clinicians, and the facial pain community. Dr. Bloom’s vision, leadership, and commitment to the rare disease community make him an exceptional choice to lead the Foundation into its next chapter. We are confident that his experience will help strengthen our research portfolio, expand strategic partnerships, and elevate the voice of the facial pain community to drive research, funding, and therapeutic development.”
Throughout his career, Dr. Bloom has worked to translate scientific insight into real-world impact for patients facing serious and underserved conditions. He has held executive and board leadership roles for non-profit and biopharmaceutical organization, with a consistent focus on building partnerships, mobilizing communities, and advancing novel approaches to disease research and treatment. These partnerships have developed over a dozen therapies improving the lives of those with rare diseases, mostly through drug repurposing and the application of data and artificial intelligence to complex medical challenges.
“Facial pain conditions impose an extraordinary burden on those who live with these conditions, as well as their families, friends and colleagues, yet these conditions are critically under-researched,” said Dr. Bloom. “I am honored to join the Facial Pain Research Foundation and to work alongside its dedicated board, researchers, clinicians and people impacted by facial pain conditions to improve the diagnosis pathway and advance the development of much needed therapies. Together, we have an opportunity to accelerate progress, deepen collaboration, and bring hope and treatments to a community that has waited far too long.”
